The sands of time often erode a loving relationship despite the promise to stand by each other for all of eternity. But some couples determinedly weather the storm and come out stronger than before. Mahara and Joyce are among them – the love, trust, and respect for each other hasn’t waned even after a decade of tying the knot.
To celebrate 10 years of togetherness, the couple decided to renew their vows on Lake Michigan.
I had the pleasure of photographing their wedding and am really fortunate and thankful that they thought of me during this very special occasion. The view from the boat was spectacular, while the weather cooperated as well.
Friends and family came down from all over to honor the milestone in their lives...
Joyce looked as gorgeous as she did at the time of her wedding. Her gown, hairdo, and accessories were perfect. Her father proudly stood next to her – the prospect of walking her down the aisle and “giving his little girl away” made him teary-eyed once again.
Mahara stood dapper and handsome in his white tux, every bit enamored and in love with his wife.
The couple expressed heartfelt sentiments beautifully while reciting their vows.
They exchanged rings and kissed among cheers and good wishes of their near and dear ones – in a nutshell, the ceremony was wonderful!
The family posed for quite a few photographs – my favorite remains the portrait of the bride with her children! The groom’s parents, his brother and wife, the bride’s sisters, her father, and close friends happily posed for me, so I got some amazing clicks.
Even the officiating pastor and his wife indulged the request for a few pictures.
Next it was time for the reception to commence. Mahara stayed in his white tux, while Joyce opted to trade her wedding gown for a stunning gold colored dress embellished with sequins.
The main attraction was the lovely fireworks, which looked magnificent against the night sky – I got an incredible shot of the couple kissing with a background illuminated with fireworks.
Now comes the fun part – after the cake eating tradition, it was time to jive and boogie!
Malawian dancers were brought in and they did a great job indeed.
The bride and her dad took to the dance floor for their “father-daughter” dance...such a remarkable performance
Guests really let their hair down and partied hard by waltzing enthusiastically.
The event was concluded by another pastor who thanked everyone for attending the wedding.
