Maternity photo shoots can be summed up in a single word – beautiful. No matter how many of them I conduct, each one is amazing and unique. This time the couple is Frank and Carol – I have known them for more than 3 years in Kansas City. I am truly grateful that they asked me to do a maternity and family photo shoot once their baby was born.
Needless to say, the couple was ecstatic as this was their first child. I asked them to wear pastel shades for the maternity shoot. For Carol it was a peach sleeveless gown, while Frank wore a light colored shirt with dress pants. The very first click is of her lovingly cupping her belly, as he looks down adoringly at her. It is a simple but powerful shot as it clearly shows the love between them.
After a couple of random pictures, I decided to take one of Frank cupping her belly – look how gentle he is with her as he plants a soft kiss atop her head, thanking her for their soon-to-arrive bundle of joy. This picture is one of my favorites for sure.
Once the gorgeous Amani was born, a family portrait was a must, but not before I got a few single clicks.
To say she is a cutie would be an understatement – she had a brilliant smile just like her mother that could light up the whole world! Amani was a pro at the photo shoots – she smiled at the right times and posed perfectly – a diva in the making if I may say so! She looks delightful in the peach and pink dresses, while she seems the most comfortable kicking up her legs in the air. The pearls and headbands look great on her!
Afterwards, I wanted to get a few pictures of Amani with her parents. For me, family photo shoots should have some good candids as it gives me an opportunity to capture natural expressions. Luckily, Amani wasn’t fussy at all. I got a couple of incredible pictures of her with Frank and Carol separately.
The three of them make a lovely family and it was a real pleasure documenting the beginning of this fabulous journey. I wish them all the very best!
